I attended both the Olympics and Paralympics – I loved the Olympic Stadium, being inside it was an amazing atmosphere, for both ceremonies and athletics! It was incredible how it could be used for a spectacular show performance, i.e. Opening Ceremony and then transformed back into an athletics stadium! Another good point about the stadium is the legacy which will follow – the stadium has been built so that the top rows of seating can be removed – it’s like a giants k’nex kit, allowing for another use alongside athletics!

There’s loads of other cool features of the olympic stadium and other venues – I could talk about them all day, let me know if you’d like to know more about how they made the games sustainable!

My company Buro Happold did the designs for the Olympic Stadium! I went to a talk by the designers and it was amazing how much it changed as the budget kept being reduced! But from that, they managed to create an awesome design and use much less material than other stadia which means less material being produced and transported to site; meaning its more environmentally friendly than many other stadia!

Unfortunately I missed it! which was a huge shame. I watched it all on the news though, the stadium looked pretty awesome.
