I have been fascinated by planes ever since I went to an airshow with my family in Farnborough when I was around 7. A huge loud aircraft called a Vulcan bomber flew over the runway and from then on I was hooked! I used to build airfix models and play flight simulators all the time, and knew I wanted to learn more about how they work and what goes into designing them, so did Aerospace engineering as a degree.
I also like passenger planes, they are another impressive feat of engineering. Although it doesn’t look like they have changed much in 50 years, they have actually changed loads! In my third year at university I even had to design a new passenger aircraft, doing all the calculations for the engines, structure and aerodynamics.
