I was most proud in my final year at uni. I graduated with a first class (hons) degree, along with being awarded with the Prescott prize, an award given to the most worthy student graduating in civil engineering that year. I got this for my contribution to things outside of my degree – i.e. My award for my contribution to sports and setting up an Engineers Without Borders branch! I also got to give a speech at my graduation – mega scary!!
I am most proud of my Chartered Engineer & Chartered Energy Manager status – it is public recognition from your peers and seniors that you have acquired a certain level of knowledge and experience and know what you are doing in your profession.
It got shortlisted for the Architect’s Journal ‘Small Project Award’ and I was pretty much the only engineer working on it. It meant I had to liase with the architect, contractors, and building control regularly and, although it was a lot of responsibility very early on in my career, I felt I did very well!
I think my proudest achievement was getting a first in my degree. I put a number of years of really hard work into it, including a big project in my final year which took up a lot of my time. It was a lot of work (with a lot of fun in between) but definitely worth it!
