Geotechnical Engineering is a branch of civil engineering which involves the ground and earth materials!

It’s designing the foundations that your house and school sits on so it doesn’t sink into the ground.

It’s designing the hills at the side of motorways to allow the steepest hill to be created for maximum use of the remaining land.

It’s designing the process to clean up polluted ground or make weak ground stronger.

It’s designing tunnels such as the Tyne Tunnel and the EuroStar tunnel.

It’s designing way to prevent landslides like the photo on my profile!

Hope that gives you an over view – if you’d like to know more, please just let me know 🙂
