My favourite invention of all time so far is (not my own invention) is the silicon micro-chip – if you consider what life would be like without the the technology that has been possible through the invention of the chip, then it would be very very different. The micro chip makes so many other things possible.

Definitely the internet! Without it, our life would be totally different! Try taking a day without using the internet and see how much you miss it 😉

I would have to say for work it computer aided design (CAD) tools, these mean you can change and manipulate drawing much fast and see what your designing coming to life on the page specifically when you work in 3d.
Personally I would say popping candy – love that stuff

This may sound odd, but my favourite invention is actually those things people now use to pick up and throw balls while walking their dogs (see link below).

Someone saw a simple problem, that old people had to keep bending over to pick up the ball and couldn’t throw it very far, and just decided to try and solve it. Other people came out with loads of complicated designs for picking up and launching the balls, but this one guy came up with a solution which is really really simple, cheap and easy to make and works perfectly. Now his design is used all around the world and helps old (and young) people walk their dogs every day. It’s my favourite because it reminds me that anyone can be an inventor and it doesn’t need to be a huge problem for one person to make a big difference.

Thats a tough one… I’m gonna have to say the invention of modern sewage treatment. I know that sounds weird but hear me out; without it we would all be suffering from diseases spread by dirty water such as cholera and typhoid, which would mean our life expectancy would be really low, and we’d be more concerned with survivind than necessarily inventing. Sewafe treatment has allowed us to live in cities without it affecting our life expectancy, enabling us to come together and bounce ideas off each other for more inventions and development.
