Last summer I volunteered with the USA Diving Squad – I sat and watched them dive pretty much twice a day for 2 weeks! The amount of physics in what they were doing it unbelievable!

This blog post touches on some of the physics with the help of Mr. Daley! – http://www.theaftermatter.com/2012/07/the-physics-of-diving.html

I would say Formula One uses the most physics and maths, it’s a real engineers sport! The F1 cars are firstly designed using the latest mathematical aerodynamic computational modelling techniques, they are always at the cutting edge of design. Then during the race the teams are constantly using maths to work out and keep track of the physics of the car, like the distance the car can go with the fuel on board, the number of laps the tyres will survive for, whether they need to change the angle of all those “wings” all over the car and how much more grip that would give it etc etc.
