I’d have to go with the internet! The engineers behind the creating of the internet won an award this week – http://qeprize.org/ check it out!

Without the internet I’ve no idea how we would have done most of the things we do today! Imagine going a day without the internet? I can’t event think how I’d do my job if it wasn’t for the internet! I’d spend my day searching through the library instead of a quick google to find an article I needed! There would be no emails, twitter or facebook, so all our communication would be done via text or post!

For those of you who watched the Olympic Opening Ceremony, Tim Berners-Lee featured in it – the internet is know as his gift to the world – he gave it to us all for free 🙂

I think the most important engineering invention is the alternator which is the thing that lets us generate electricity! Ever since electricity could be generated and stored human technology has sky rocketed.

We rely on electricity today for almost everything, our food storage, transport, medical machines, heating, computers, light. The world would be a very very different place without it and alternators brought it to us.
