Engineers without Borders is a charity that looks to use engineering in developing countries to get rid of poverty! For example, building a bridge for the community over a river full of sewage and nasties! This sounds a pretty simple idea, but it solves so many problems! The bridge could for example connect people homes to the school, meaning the children don’t have to walk miles out of their community where they could be in danger, or wade across the river where the water contents loads of germs which would make them ill and risk death!

Most universities have their own Engineers without borders branch – where they run activities for their students, but also run workshops in schools! Maybe get in touch and see if they will run one in your school 🙂
