In 10 years I’ll be 35 (eek!). I hope to have finished my doctorate and have passed my chartership exams. These are professional exams engineers can take, much like doctors take to become consultants.

I also hope to have more responsibility at work, possibly at Associate level, either at my current company Buro Happold ltd. or at a small company which looks into sustainable design.

I also would like to have had some kids by 35, but I don’t have a boyfriend at the moment so that one might not happen! If I did have kids by then I’d hope I had a good work/life balance where I could work hard but also be there for my family.

10 years time is a very very long way away!! I’d like to have graduated from my PhD, and been to the Rio 2016 Olympics and maybe have a ‘proper job’ with real responsibilities and working hours!! I’d like to work for a large engineering firm or lecture in universities, I guess I’ll have to see what jobs are around one I’ve finished my PhD!

Wow long way off! In 10 years time I hope to be an engineering manager, I have my sights set high! I really enjoy working with people and talking and I also like to lead. I’m not sure whether I’d be at the same company or not, not many people these days stay at one company for more than 5 years! It’s really good to change your job every now and then and get a bit of experience in other jobs, maybe in other countries!

I also plan by the tender age of 36 to have a family on the go! I plan to be an extremely embarrassing dad… there’s no stopping that, my poor children will have no chance.
