I think I deserve the money as I’m very passionate and enthusiastic when it comes to engineering! I love to sharing my experiences and teaching people what they are missing out on not being an engineer – My aim isn’t to recruit lots of people to become engineers – I hope to just inform people that engineering is an option and show them a side they won’t have ever seen before!

I’ve done quite a lot of outreach and school work in the past but feel now it’s time to run a project which I organise and develop, rather than helping someone else out with theirs! I have been able to identify the weak points in other peoples workshops so hopefully I can combine the strengths of workshops I’ve help with and my own ideas to create a MEGA workshop using the money from this competition!

I think I deserve the money because I truly believe in the technology that I want to share with you guys (3D printing)! The first time I saw one of the machines drawing out a model of a radar, I was amazed, and I will put my all into getting the opportunity to share that experience with everyone.

This is entirely my idea with no one else helping, I would be committing loads of my time into the preparation and running of these exciting model making experiences, that’s just how much I believe in it!

I deserve the money because I believe that a workshop where you can touch and play with building materials can really spread the message that it is possible to make strong sturdy buildings out of straw, cardboard, and other green materials! Hopefully it will also show that structural engineering can be fun and inspire kids to become structural engineers with a good knowledge of the environmental issues we need to consider nowadays. Even in my year there are guys and girls who aren’t really aware of the impacts our building material choices have on our environment, and this needs to change!
