Question: Will you need more than the prize money to buy a 3D printer?

Luckily they are getting cheaper and cheaper. There is a company in america called Printrbot which makes them specifically for educational purposes, so they only come to about 350 quid. That leaves enough to buy loads of the plastic to make things with, and to get it shipped over here!

Eventually they may become so cheap and easy to use, that you will see one in every house (just like paper printers today).
